International touring car driver and online journalist Robb Holland will field his AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology liveried Rotek Racing Audi TTRS for the 100th anniversary of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 26, 2016.
Robb, a Denver native, was the first American to compete in a full season of the British Touring Car Championship with the help of Nürburgring-based Rotek Racing. His on-track performance in North American racing series at the outset of his career landed him roles developing cars for competition with programs like K-PAX Racing and the factory Volvo C30. As a result, Robb is capable of seeing the off-track development and on-track competition as one holistic development process.
As a result, Robb looked to AERO™ film-based paints for an added competitive advantage. AERO marries high value performance attributes with rich aesthetics, all in a flexible, adaptive, and easy-to-install film.
“We’ve been painting our cars with AERO for the last two seasons because it looks just like showroom quality paint, which is great for branding and sponsors. Yet it takes only a few hours to apply with no drying time, and doesn’t need any sprayers or paint booths. And that’s great for the environment!” Robb stated in the lead-up to the Pikes Peak event.
AERO scientists engineered the film-based paint system from the molecule up in order to “build in” increased durability, chemical resistance, and protection from environmental effects. That performance is matched with integrated paint that is indistinguishable from a premium, spray applied paint finish.
“We set out to make a great, aerospace-grade paint system that eliminated the need for paint booths and sprays,” AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology CEO, Jim McGuire stated. “And we were able to deliver a high-end paint that is extremely durable, but is also incredibly fast and easy to apply and strip.”
Robb Holland reached out to Alpine Graphics Denver to apply the AERO livery. The Rotek Racing Audi TTRS combined Starlight Black with Cobalt Blue accents from the AERO Liquid Metal™ series. “AERO is amazing,” Steve Weaver, President of Alpine, stated. “It’s quick and easy to apply, and it looks fantastic—a real game-changer for the automotive market.”
