PRESS RELEASE
HILLIARD, OH (March 30, 2014)—BMW Team RLL Racing and AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology announced their partnership for the 2014 season, which is an expansion of the deal with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s IndyCar program beginning in 2013. Both teams have adopted AERO™ film-based paint applique for their liveries in 2014 to achieve a greater competitive advantage, and subsequently, quicker lap times.
AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology is a high-performance, green technology, film-based paint applique system, created and applied without solvents or sprayers, eliminating the fumes and environmental impact of harsh chemicals.
Bobby Rahal, co-owner of RLL Racing stated that AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology “gives us a competitive edge in a sport where the difference between winning and losing is a slim margin.” The success of the matte black AERO™ film-based paint applique in durability and weight on the blu e-Cigs sponsored livery in last season’s IndyCar double header in Houston showed tremendous value for the team, not only in IndyCar, but also in the Tudor United SportsCar series. “When we had a media event after the races, the car pretty much looked as good as the day it rolled out of the garage for the first time,” Rahal said.
AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology also weighs in approximately 50 percent less than vinyl, which was previously the preferred material for BMW Team RLL. “Three or four pounds doesn’t sound like very much, but when one pound makes a difference, three or four pounds is sizeable” Rahal commented. AERO™ film-based paint applique exceeds vinyl in nearly every category, and does not require the use of additional products such as clear bra or Heli-tape to achieve the required durability.
“AERO’s technology was developed to meet the demands of the high-performance aerospace market,” said Jim McGuire, CEO of entrotech, Inc., AERO’s parent company. “We’re happy to be transitioning AERO, and all of its performance enhancements, to BMW Team RLL.”
The partnership between AERO™ and the Rahal-managed sports car team, BMW Team RLL, includes components on the two BMW Z4 GTLM cars in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship series. The team will be running our AERO™ Matte Black and AERO™ Alpine White advanced paint during the 2014 season.
In addition to its performance benefits, AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology™ reduces maintenance time versus ordinary paint. AERO™ film-based paint applique can be applied and stripped in minutes, since it does not require drying. More information on AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology is available at www.rethinkpaint.com.
